June 1st Update – In Store Play

Many of you have been asking about when we’ll start hosting events now that Phase 1 of reopening has begun. We know you’re excited to get back in for regular games and we are excited to have you come in for games. But, in an effort to maintain a safe, healthy environment, we will be taking it slow. Beginning Wednesday, June 3rd, we will be allowing private groups of 2-6 to reserve tables. To reserve a table, you can either call: 503-521-7610, or email: runeandboard@gmail.com. A $5 per player minimum purchase will be required.

To maintain a safe, healthy environment for everyone, the following rules must be obeyed:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly before your game(s) begin. There are guides posted in each restroom that show proper hand washing techniques.
  2. Wash/sanitize your hands frequently while gaming. If you can’t remember how long it has been since you last did so, it’s time to do it again.
  3. No outside food or drink whatsoever. In the past we have made exceptions, but now the only exception is a resealable water bottle for personal use.
  4. Maintain 6 feet of social distancing between gaming groups at all times. We will be arranging tables to allow for this.
  5. Face masks must be worn. If you don’t have a face mask, we can provide you with a disposable one.
  6. Clean up after yourself. Dispose of any trash or bottles and cans during and after your gaming session. We will sanitize the tables and chairs between groups.
  7. If you are experiencing a fever, cough, or flu-like symptoms, DO NOT COME IN.

In addition to these rules, it is also imperative that each person be fully aware of their surroundings and how close they are to others. If you are within 6 feet of someone who is not part of your private group, you will need to move. Because of traffic flow, this will require coordination and cooperation between groups.

If all goes well, we will consider expanding our temporary hours to allow for more reservations.

Please remember, we’re in this together, and only together can we maintain a safe, healthy environment for everyone.

Malifaux Henchman Hardcore on May 5th

Rune & Board will be hosting a Henchman Hardcore on May 5th, from 3pm to 5:30pm. This is a FREE event for players with some experience with Malifaux.

According to Wyrd: “Henchman Hardcore is a tournament version of Malifaux which focuses on quick, brutal decision making. It is perfect for a group which wants to face a new challenge and experiment with Malifaux in a slightly different environment. The key differences between Henchman Hardcore and regular Malifaux are the reduced game size (20 Soulstones) and the fact that all Crews must be led by a Henchman.”

There will be prize support for this event, depending on turnout. See the Wyrd forum for more info.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We’d like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Hopefully, like us, you’re enjoying a day off, gathering with friends and family. And also like us, there’s a good chance you’re resting up for….

To show our appreciation for all of our customers, many of whom are quickly becoming like family, we’ll be opening up a couple hours early (but still late enough to sleep in 😺) and offering what we feel are some some pretty awesome deals:

In addition to this, we’ll also have several other random specials, as well as events planned throughout the weekend: Magic Win-a-Box, FNM* Draft & Modern, Final Fantasy TCG Opus IV Prerelease, D&D Adventurer’s League**, and Saturday Game Night.

September is a busy month, with a new D&D book, a Magic release, new Star Wars: Destiny and the start of a new Warmachine league.

We will have Tomb of Annihilation, the new D&D book, available Friday, September 8th. As a Wizards of the Coast retailer, we have the book available 2 weeks early. The new Adventurers League season accompanying the book has an interesting spin: “The death curse”. You can read more about it in the Adventurers League Primer.

We’ll have a limited number of boxes for Star Wars: Destiny Empire at War available September 15th for $99.

Our next build and paint event will be September 17th, from 3pm to 6pm. We’ll be featuring miniatures from Games Workshop, with a range of 40k and Age of Sigmar models available to assemble and paint. Already have something you’re working on? Bring it in and take advantage our our paints and tools!

Ixalan pre-releases have been scheduled for the weekend of September 23rd. We’re hosting our first ever midnight pre-release, as well as events Saturday morning, Saturday evening, Sunday morning and Two-Headed Giant Sunday afternoon. $24 if you pre-register and pay in advance, $28 day of the event.

Adding to our regular Wednesday Warmachine events, we’re starting a Journeyman League for new Warmachine and Hordes players on the 27th. Starting out with a Battlebox, players will gradually add to their army until they have a 75-point army. We’ll have more information available later in the month, so keep an eye on our Facebook page or our event schedule for more info.

Rounding out the month, we will be doing a learn and play for Sea of Clouds on September 30th. Participants will have an opportunity to win a special promo captain and a chance to buy a copy of the game at a discount. It’s a fun, easy to learn game that’s good for mixed age groups.

We’re planning on having a variety of different tabletop games, with Learn to Play D&D, Numenera OP, Blood Bowl, Magic: the Gathering Mini Masters, and our own spin on ITTD, Gaming After Dark.
