Updated Hours and Guilds of Ravnica PreRelease

With the days getting shorter, we’ve moved to slightly different hours on Friday and Saturday nights. We’re now open until 10pm on Fridays and 8pm on Saturdays. The rest of the days of the week will remain unchanged.

This weekend is prerelease for Guilds of Ravnica, the next set for Magic: the Gathering. We have events scheduled for Friday midnight, Saturday at 10:30am and 5:30pm and Two-Headed Giant 12pm on Sunday. There’s a limited number of booster boxes still available for pre-order, with pick up on Prerelease weekend.

If you’re looking for RPGs, we’ve started posting our public games on Warhorn.net. As always, D&D Adventurers League is still on Meetup.com but due to changes in Adventurers League rules, some of our DMs decided to take their games “free range”. We moved to Warhorn so that we could still offer public games without relying on Meetup, so now we can post games that are not D&D, such as Shadowrun and Warhammer, or other events like 40K tournaments.

We’re offering gift cards with a reloadable balance, but if you have a gift certificate, don’t worry as they’re still valid for any remaining balance.

September Events!

Rune & Board will be at Rose City Comic-con this year, not as attendees but as a vendor! Stop by our booth at 1050 if you’re going — we’ll have coupons on hand and great deals on dice and minis.

After Rose City, the next campaign book for D&D will be released September 18th (but we’ll have it on September 7th!). Waterdeep: Dragon Heist is a campaign designed for characters level 1-5. The buzz is that it will be really good, so be sure to reserve a copy. We’re taking pre-orders now for $44.95 (regular price $49.95). Dragon Heist will have a follow up release in November — Dungeon of the Mad Mage will be for characters level 5-20.

Rounding out September, the next Magic: the Gathering set, Guilds of Ravnica, prerelease will be September 29th & 30th. Following the story from Ixalan, the Gatewatch return to Ravnica to finally battle Nicol Bolas. Will they emerge victorious or will Nicol Bolas’ nefarious plan finally succeed? And in case you haven’t heard, there will be a Ravnica sourcebook for D&D 5e, too! That will be released in November so keep an eye out for more info in the coming months.

Regarding events, we added an additional Pokemon League day – every Wednesday from 2pm to 5pm. The pre-release for Lost Thunder will be in October so we’ll have more information then.

July Events – Magic Pre-Release and More!

July will be a busy month for CCG players – Rune & Board is hosting 3 pre-releases next month!

Taking advantage of the holiday, we’ll be open until 7pm on July 4th, running a Warmachine Scramble event (starting at 1pm). $5 entry for each 4-person mini tournament. The plan is to run them on-demand, as soon as there’s 4 players. Prize support is $20 store credit to the winning player. Before 5:00pm you can use a 75 point army, single list; after 5:00pm: 50 point army, single list.

First pre-release this month is the Magic: the Gathering Core Set 2019. We’re planning on running a midnight event again, plus 2 on Saturday. Sunday’s event will be 2-Headed Giant. Pre-register now for your spot Friday or Saturday $25. 2HG teams can pre-register for $50. Pre-registration ends on Friday, July 6th at 10pm. Check out Facebook or Instagram for more details on our specials.

We’re also running a Final Fantasy TCG Opus VI pre-release Sunday July 8th, at 5pm. Pre-registration is open now, $30 to guarantee your spot! Entry will be $35 day-of.

Last, we have a Pokemon pre-release for Sun & Moon Celestial Storm on Saturday, July 28th. We’ll start taking sign ups on July 7th. $30 entry fee will get you a special pre-release kit, with prizes for all players.

Some of the Warhammer players are considering organizing an escalation league, so if you’re interested please contact Nick or Chadd at the store.

January 2018 Update

In January, we’ll be switching to winter hours through March. These are similar to our original opening hours, with a few changes.

  • Monday – Close

  • Wednesday – 1:00pm to 9:00pm
  • Thursday – 1:00pm to 9:00pm

  • Saturday – Noon to 8:00pm
  • Sunday – Noon to 5:00pm

As usual, we will stay open later if there are events going.

Organized Play and AL have grown much larger than we anticipated; there are frequently more players than open seats. The same is true of reservations for use of our tables for private games.

Beginning in 2018:

  • Table Reservation fees will be $5 per person, to be paid by the person making the reservation. This fee will be then become store credit usable for anything in the store, but not for future reservations. This is a continuation of a policy we started a few months ago. If you want to reserve space for a long term campaign, we can work with you on fees and how they’re collected.
  • For D&D, and other hosted games, there is a required $5 minimum purchase for players per session. This is something you may pay in advance to cover multiple sessions.
  • For event hosts – for each event you host you will get 1 free session.
  • You can also earn free sessions with in-store purchases. With a $25 purchase, you’ll get a card good for 6 play sessions. With every additional $25 in purchases, you’ll get an additional card. Full cards can be added to our monthly raffle for cool prizes.

Participants of game demos, Open Play events (like Tabletop Tuesdays and Commander Night), and events with a current entry fee will not be required to pay the fee. If there’s a game you are passionate about and want to host a demo or open play, contact us.

We also realized we need to have a Return/Exchange policy:

  • Items may be returned if unopened and in like-new condition within 14 days for full refund with receipt.
  • Items may be exchanged if unopened and in like-new condition within 30 days with receipt.
  • Clearance items may not be returned, unless defective. These items will be marked with discount labels.
  • Collectible products may not be returned. These include: Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, Dragon Ball Super, Yu Gi Oh!, Final Fantasy TCG, etc.
  • Special order items may not be returned, unless defective.
  • Snacks and Drinks may not be returned.
