Christmas in September?

TL;DR: Start your holiday shopping as soon as you can

Throughout the pandemic we have experienced shortages of products in every category we sell, as well as buyouts of the most popular items (Pokemon, Magic, etc). And we are beginning to see shortages once again that could stretch well into next year. Because of this, we are doing as much as we can to maintain good stock on as many items as we can for the holidays. As I (Nick) type this, we have several open orders with our distributors. Some of these orders will ship this week, but others may not ship until October or November.

We love being your friendly local game store, and we want to be able to offer as much of what you’re looking for as we can. For this reason, we encourage you to begin your holiday shopping as soon as you can so that you can get those much-wanted gifts for everyone on your list. And if there is a particular item you’re looking for that we don’t have on hand, let us check its availability for you. We’re always happy to special order for you.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

With COVID-19 and variant cases rising in Washington County, and today’s updates to CDC Guidelines, we will now be requiring facemasks while in the store. This includes anyone shopping or participating in events, as well as our staff.

Our reason for this change is so that we can continue to maintain and provide a safe and healthy environment for everyone, especially those who are immunicompromised, have underlying health conditions, or are unable to get the vaccine due to preexisting medical conditions.

In Store Events – THEY’RE BACK!

First off, THANK YOU all for your patience as we get our play space back to functional again. After several maintenance issues over the past few months, followed by remodeling (there’s a brand new pass through that unifies the 2 play areas!) we’re ready to start Phase 1 of In Store Events.

To make sure we can make every event a safe one, we will be reopening our play space in phases:

  • Phase 1: Scheduled Events Only – Maximum of 24 players, unless otherwise noted
  • Phase 2: Table Reservations outside of Scheduled Events – Maximum of 4 players per table
  • Phase 3: Open Tables outside of Scheduled Events and Reserved Tables for walk-in players

There is no definitive time table for when we will be moving from Phase 1 to Phase 2 to Phase 3. During Phases 1 & 2, we will be evaluating what is working and make changes as we see fit in order to maintain a safe and healthy environment.

Our first event will be this Friday, July 30th: Friday Night Magic – Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Sealed (6 packs). Additional events will be added to the schedule, so be sure to check back often.

All Scheduled Events will be first come, first served until further notice.

Summer Update: Face-masks, etc.

TL:DR – For the health and safety of our customers and staff, we have decided to continue requiring face-masks to be worn unless you are able to show proof of full vaccination.

With Governor Brown’s recent annoucement about face-masks, we began discussing how best to handle this within our store. Our decision is as follows:

After much consideration, we feel it is best to continue requiring the wearing of face-masks while in the store for shopping or events*. If, however, you are able and willing to show proof of full vaccination, we will allow you to enter and participate without a face-mask. Our reasoning for this is that many of our customers, as well as some of our staff members, are immunocompromised. In order for us to provide a safe and healthy environment for everyone, we feel it is necessary to take extra precautions.

For those who prefer to not to wear a face-mask, or are unable to get the vaccination, we continue to offer friendly curbside pickup and local delivery (within a 10 mile radius) through our online store or over the phone.

Please remember, we’re not out of the woods just yet, but by working together and looking out for each other, we’re getting closer.

*yes, you read that right, events will be returning soon!

Status of in-store play

With the recent update from Wizards Play Network to begin allowing in-store organized play on May 28th, we have had several inquiries as to when we will begin to allow in-store play. The short answer is eventually. The longer answer is once we feel it is safe for everyone to gather in an enclosed space for extended periods of time. Considering that Washington County was recently downgraded to High Risk, we do not feel it is safe to allow in-store play at this time.

When Washington county is upgraded to Moderate Risk or Low Risk, we will reconsider our stance on allowing in-store play. Please realize, we want to provide an atmosphere and space that is clean and safe for everyone.

Concering Digimon, Pokemon, and TCGs in general.

Over the past few months the trading card market has gone bonkers with unprecedented demand and very limited supply. Due to this, we often don’t know when or if we will be receiving a restock on popular products until our distributors are ready to ship them to us. In some cases it is literally a surprise when a distributor calls and says, “hey, we have _________ for you; do you want it?” Unfortunately, this means that we can’t take any orders on out of stock TCG products, nor will we add your name to a list because that list would be several pages long if we had one.

So, the best thing fo you to do is follow us on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. When we receive restocks, we will make a post on each of these.

March Update

Hey look, it’s still March! Or is it March again?

With vaccines rolling out and restrictions slowly lifting, we have been getting more questions about when we’re going to allow in-store play. We have chosen to be very cautious since most games do not allow for social distancing. Unlike a restaurant where you can typically maintain appropriate distance from other parties, it’s difficult to do so in most games, especially games like Magic the Gathering or Pokemon.

When we do begin allowing in-store play again, it will be restricted to private parties of up to 6 people. We are still a few weeks away from this, however, due to some ongoing maintenance on our building. Once we are ready, we will post on social media.

Digimon Update

Digimon has been in high demand since it was first announced a few months ago. Many of you have been asking when we’d start taking preorders for the official release. But, as outlined in my (Nick) previous post, we don’t take preorders for a product until we know how much we will be getting.

So, on to the news about Digimon:

The good news is I was sent our allocation this morning. The bad news is it’s nowhere near what I had requested. For release day, we will have Zero starter decks and only a few booster boxes (my distributor rep is currently trying to get us more). Because of this shortage, we will be selling individual boosters only, with a limit of 6 per household per day, until we are sold out. Additionally, these will be available in-store only. We will not be accepting online or phone orders, and we won’t be able to hold product.

Thank you all for your understanding in this difficult situation. Hopefully, we will see more Digimon product in the near future.

December/January Update: We Survived 2020!

2020 is almost over we’re still here. A huge THANK YOU to all of our wonderful customers who have supported us throughout this difficult year. I know I keep saying this, but without all of you we wouldn’t be here.

It’s also our 4th anniversary this week. In the past we’ve had a big sale to celebrate, but this year we decided to combine it with our post-Christmas Inventory Reduction Sale. Stay tuned for awesome specials December 26th-31st.

Since 2020 has been a crazy year, we all need some time for Rest & Relaxation to recharge. So, at the beginning of January we will be closed the following days:

  • 1st: New Year’s Day
  • 2nd-3rd: taking inventory
  • 4th-10th: much needed R&R

We will reopen on Monday, January 11th.

MTG Commander Collection Green price change

Hey everyone,

With the release of Commander Collection Green last week we saw an immediate drop in the market price. When I (Nick) first established our price, we were well under the market price I had seen from other sellers and online, which were as high as $150 at one point. But, after seeing price reductions over the weekend, it’s pretty clear that many sellers (us included) had overpriced the product. For this reason, we have decided to lower our price to $79 each. If you preordered one with us, don’t worry, we have credited you the difference already.

Moving forward, we will do our best to establish more accurate pricing on limited edition items like this.
