Concering Digimon, Pokemon, and TCGs in general.

Over the past few months the trading card market has gone bonkers with unprecedented demand and very limited supply. Due to this, we often don’t know when or if we will be receiving a restock on popular products until our distributors are ready to ship them to us. In some cases it is literally a surprise when a distributor calls and says, “hey, we have _________ for you; do you want it?” Unfortunately, this means that we can’t take any orders on out of stock TCG products, nor will we add your name to a list because that list would be several pages long if we had one.

So, the best thing fo you to do is follow us on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. When we receive restocks, we will make a post on each of these.

March Update

Hey look, it’s still March! Or is it March again?

With vaccines rolling out and restrictions slowly lifting, we have been getting more questions about when we’re going to allow in-store play. We have chosen to be very cautious since most games do not allow for social distancing. Unlike a restaurant where you can typically maintain appropriate distance from other parties, it’s difficult to do so in most games, especially games like Magic the Gathering or Pokemon.

When we do begin allowing in-store play again, it will be restricted to private parties of up to 6 people. We are still a few weeks away from this, however, due to some ongoing maintenance on our building. Once we are ready, we will post on social media.

Digimon Update

Digimon has been in high demand since it was first announced a few months ago. Many of you have been asking when we’d start taking preorders for the official release. But, as outlined in my (Nick) previous post, we don’t take preorders for a product until we know how much we will be getting.

So, on to the news about Digimon:

The good news is I was sent our allocation this morning. The bad news is it’s nowhere near what I had requested. For release day, we will have Zero starter decks and only a few booster boxes (my distributor rep is currently trying to get us more). Because of this shortage, we will be selling individual boosters only, with a limit of 6 per household per day, until we are sold out. Additionally, these will be available in-store only. We will not be accepting online or phone orders, and we won’t be able to hold product.

Thank you all for your understanding in this difficult situation. Hopefully, we will see more Digimon product in the near future.

December/January Update: We Survived 2020!

2020 is almost over we’re still here. A huge THANK YOU to all of our wonderful customers who have supported us throughout this difficult year. I know I keep saying this, but without all of you we wouldn’t be here.

It’s also our 4th anniversary this week. In the past we’ve had a big sale to celebrate, but this year we decided to combine it with our post-Christmas Inventory Reduction Sale. Stay tuned for awesome specials December 26th-31st.

Since 2020 has been a crazy year, we all need some time for Rest & Relaxation to recharge. So, at the beginning of January we will be closed the following days:

  • 1st: New Year’s Day
  • 2nd-3rd: taking inventory
  • 4th-10th: much needed R&R

We will reopen on Monday, January 11th.

Thank you all for your understanding and support throughout the year and into the next.

MTG Commander Collection Green price change

Hey everyone,

With the release of Commander Collection Green last week we saw an immediate drop in the market price. When I (Nick) first established our price, we were well under the market price I had seen from other sellers and online, which were as high as $150 at one point. But, after seeing price reductions over the weekend, it’s pretty clear that many sellers (us included) had overpriced the product. For this reason, we have decided to lower our price to $79 each. If you preordered one with us, don’t worry, we have credited you the difference already.

Moving forward, we will do our best to establish more accurate pricing on limited edition items like this.

Thank you all for your understanding and continued support!

Best Month Ever! (also, December update)

Wow! Just WOW! November was our best month ever!!! Thank You to everyone who helped make it happen. We didn’t just set a new record, we shattered the old one.

Now, on to December. The governor has lifted the “freeze” on businesses, but Washington County is still considered Extreme Risk. Because of this, we will continue to limit the number of customers to 6 at a time. I (Nick) feel this is in the best interest of the health and safety of everyone. I ask that you please be patient and respectful of others when shopping.

In addition to limiting the number of customers, we have also made the difficult decision to keep our play space closed for the remainder of the year. As much as we miss hosting events and having play groups come in, it’s just not safe or wise to do so right now.

Please remember, it takes the cooperation of everyone to get through this crazy time we’re living in. Be thoughtful of others while out and about.

Thanksgiving and Black Friday

We’d like to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. Even though it’s a difficult time right now, it’s still important to remember the things we’re thankful for. For us at Rune & Board, we’re most thankful for all of our wonderful customers who have supported us throughout this crazy year. As a thank you, we’ve started our Black Friday sale a few days early so that you can grab some games, puzzles, RPG books, minis, etc. for Thanksgiving Day at home. Most deals are available in-store and online, but our Clearance Sale is in-store only.

Be Safe and eventually we’ll make it through this.

November Update – New Restrictions

For the health and safety of our customers and employees, we have decided to suspend table reservations until after the governor’s business freeze is lifted. We will also will be limiting the number of customers in the store to 6 at a time. In order to minimize contact, we encourage you to shop our online store and choose either Curbside pickup or $5 local delivery. As always, if there’s something you’re looking for that we don’t have online, let us know and we’ll see if we can special order it in for you.

For the upcoming Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, we will have many in-store specials which we will try to make available online, as well. If you do choose to come in, we ask for your patience and understanding. It may be necessary to lineup outside the store, so wear your warm and water-resistance coats.

Thank you for your cooperation.

R&B Closed August 2nd-4th

Hey all, it’s been a crazy year and we need a short break. So, we will be closed Sunday, August 2nd through Tuesday, August 4th. We will reopen as usual on Wednesday, August 5th.

While we are closed, one person will be here doing some necessary maintenance, as well as accepting deliveries from our vendors. They will not, however, be able to assist with online orders. Any orders placed online after 4pm on Saturday, August 1st will be available on August 5th.

Thank you for your understanding,

Nick, Chadd, Emry, Sadie, Nicolas

June 1st Update – In Store Play

Many of you have been asking about when we’ll start hosting events now that Phase 1 of reopening has begun. We know you’re excited to get back in for regular games and we are excited to have you come in for games. But, in an effort to maintain a safe, healthy environment, we will be taking it slow. Beginning Wednesday, June 3rd, we will be allowing private groups of 2-6 to reserve tables. To reserve a table, you can either call: 503-521-7610, or email: runeandboard@gmail.com. A $5 per player minimum purchase will be required.

To maintain a safe, healthy environment for everyone, the following rules must be obeyed:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly before your game(s) begin. There are guides posted in each restroom that show proper hand washing techniques.
  2. Wash/sanitize your hands frequently while gaming. If you can’t remember how long it has been since you last did so, it’s time to do it again.
  3. No outside food or drink whatsoever. In the past we have made exceptions, but now the only exception is a resealable water bottle for personal use.
  4. Maintain 6 feet of social distancing between gaming groups at all times. We will be arranging tables to allow for this.
  5. Face masks must be worn. If you don’t have a face mask, we can provide you with a disposable one.
  6. Clean up after yourself. Dispose of any trash or bottles and cans during and after your gaming session. We will sanitize the tables and chairs between groups.
  7. If you are experiencing a fever, cough, or flu-like symptoms, DO NOT COME IN.

In addition to these rules, it is also imperative that each person be fully aware of their surroundings and how close they are to others. If you are within 6 feet of someone who is not part of your private group, you will need to move. Because of traffic flow, this will require coordination and cooperation between groups.

If all goes well, we will consider expanding our temporary hours to allow for more reservations.

Please remember, we’re in this together, and only together can we maintain a safe, healthy environment for everyone.
